Favourable geographic location, along with the fact that one fifth of all Roman emperors were born in this area, has contributed to the second-highest number of monuments dating from the Roman Empire, after Italy. These sites of immeasurable historical and archaeological importance, connected in such a manner, would form the basis for the development of successful and sustainable cultural tourism. The basic idea behind the project is to interconnect all the Roman sites within the current borders of Serbia. The cultural route named “Roman Emperors Route” is a project of national and pan-European significance, envisioned as a modern, educational tourism tour that aims to connect with the archaeological sites in other Roman provinces within the territory of the former Roman Empire.
